Herbal Compress Massage

Thai Herbal Compresses have been used for thousands of years alone or in combination with massage treatments to bring balance to mind, body and spirit. As part of traditional Thai medicine the herbs in the compress are combined to alleviate blockages in the body’s energy, stress, fatigue, joint stiffness, strained muscles and tendons, and inflammation. In addition blood circulation and relaxation are increased. The compress holds heat from steam to activate the herbs, opening the skin’s pores and blood vessels. This results in nourishing the body’s tissues. The aromas are absolutely wonderful including ginger, turmeric, lemon grass, camphor, Kaffir lime and tamarind. The best smelling massage therapy session you will ever receive! Our goal is to leave you relaxed, energized and feeling amazing.

Contraindications: Fever, infection, allergies/sensitivities to herbs, sensitivities to heat, pregnancy. (Herbal compress can be great for pregnancy or anyone with allergies and sensitivities, but would need to use a custom blend, not the general blend used here.)

The compress itself is your gift to take home after your treatment. You may use it in several ways at home:
– store it in your freezer as a cold pack,
– toss it into your tub the next time you take a relaxing soak as a bath tea,
– or reheat it with a vegetable steamer and use to soothe tired sore muscles.

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment to the feet using pressure to stimulate and activate the body organs and systems. This treatment is especially recommended for headaches, migraines, seasonal colds, to alleviate stress, and simply for relaxation.

With this technique, experience improved relaxation, improved digestion, organ cleansing and detoxification, fewer PMS symptoms, reduced muscular tension, and the release of retained fluids.

We offer two Reflexology services to choose from:

Reflexology 45-Minute Treatment with foot soak ($80.00): A 45- minute session includes a 10-minute mustard seed soak followed by a full-foot protocol. The mustard seed foot soak eliminates toxins from your body through the feet and helps generate circulation with renewed cleansing and rejuvenating qualities. The soak is followed by a relaxing treatment to the feet using appropriate pressure to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding body organs and systems.

Reflexology 30-Minute Treatment without soak ($55.00): A 30-minute session includes a deeply relaxing treatment to the feet using appropriate pressure to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding body organs and systems.

This spiritual treatment helps to balance the flow of energy and promotes a positive mental state. At Relax! Massage Therapy & Skin Care, immerse yourself in the world of Reiki to start a restorative healing process, both physically and mentally.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki (ray – key) is made of two Japanese words – ‘Rei’ which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and ‘Ki’ which is “life force energy.” So, Reiki represents “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki treatment feels like a glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit to create many beneficial effects, like relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and wellbeing. Many people have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and condition. It also safe to do in conjunction with other medical and therapeutic techniques.

    Table Thai

This type of bodywork is wonderful for athletes as well as people who sit or stand too much.
Typically the work is done clothed with the client wearing loose comfortable clothing. Many clients fall asleep even though they are being passively stretched throughout the session.

Clients say they feel extremely relaxed, less sore and tight. Some clients even say they feel taller after a table Thai session, because they feel their posture improve, less tension, and more ease in their body.

    Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a specialized massage modality designed to move lymph throughout the body in a systematic way.  Because your lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump like the blood has in the heart, often it gets stagnant and stuck, causing edema and swelling in the body and reducing your resistance to outside pathogens.  The massage therapist uses very light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase the flow of lymph and reduce toxins in your body. There is a specific method that is used to help with drainage and reabsorption of the lymph. It is often recommended for post surgical care to help decrease the chance of lymphedema from occurring. If someone does suffer from lymphedema, lymphatic drainage can be used to decrease the edema.

    Lymphatic drainage can:

    • Decrease edema and swelling of the limbs caused by travel, not enough movement or poor circulation
    • Reduce the chance of you suffering from minor colds and viruses; it helps your body fight off infection, and speeds up healing and recovery from illness
    • Help reduce water retention by moving stagnant fluids in your body
    • Improve your skin texture by reducing swelling, puffiness and blotches
    • Help reduce cellulite by increasing blood flow and circulation to the affected areas, which helps the body break down the toxins which cause dimply skin.
