R-E-S-P-E-C-T! What does it mean to you?

The song “Respect”, written by Otis Redding and sung by numerous musicians including Aretha Franklin, belts out an all too familiar anthem on respect and its meaning.  To that tune, as we continue our journey around our wheel of core values, we make our way to Respect!  What does it mean to you?

The dictionary defines RESPECT as “a feeling of deep admiration  for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities and achievements.  It is also the process of honoring someone or something by exhibiting care, concern, or consideration for their needs or feelings.”  As one of our core values, “respect” is a quality that our team returns to regularly.  We consistently strive to cultivate more respect for ourselves, for each other, for the spaces around us and for the world.

Through the evolution and growth of our team we have learned that having a team of people who respect themselves and each other is invaluable to the flow of the spa and how the energy feels for our guests.  Hiring team members who are in alignment with our core values and embody a respectful lifestyle is paramount to maintaining the team culture and spa environment that we work to maintain daily.  We want our clients to not only feel cared for and respected when they come in, but also to sense the degree of respect that is embedded within the framework of our team culture.

Our unique approach to business, fueled by our all female leadership team, marches to a different drum.  Respectful and conscious communication is at the heartbeat of our culture.  Through our team meetings and our one-to-one sessions, we stay in close contact with our team member’s successes, goals, and challenges, and take time to oversee any team dynamics that need attention.  We are not afraid to have the difficult and uncomfortable conversations that lead us back to a place of comradery, collaboration and respect.

What does respect mean to you and how does it feel in your body when you feel respected by yourself and others?  What does it feel like to expand your capacity to respectfully interact with the people, places and spaces around you?  We are here for you, Wilmington!
